Samsung’s leadership was fairly consistent with a level of 19-22, but it was very volatile throughout the period studied (Omdia, 2025). If you were to take the top number, it would be estimated to be about 24 per cent in Q4 2023 and then about 18 per cent in Q3 2025, across Apple’s variability. Besides, Xiaomi has maintained a growth of 11 per cent – 14 per cent compared to Transsion and vivo, which both held a steady market share of 7-9 per cent, based on data from Omdia (2025). However, it is clear from the chart that the market competition among the vendors is also increasing since Samsung’s market share is not far from 19.9%, while there are new players in this market (Pressing, 2025). Africa saw the highest growth, with the number of units shipped growing by approximately 18 million units to 22 million, resulting in a growth rate of 25. The largest market, with over 100 million units, was in Asia-Pacific (excluding Greater China) and was up 5% despite the fact that this market was so large. (Omdia, 2025). However, there was no sign of market saturation as North America has seen a maximum growth change of 3%, and Greater China a minimum growth change of less than 2%, due to economic headwinds (Omdia, 2025). This is what happened in Africa, where its performance improved thanks to a decrease in inflation, stability of the currency, and the development of financing agreements for devices in the region, such as Kenya, according to Canalys (2025).
