Media Activity Conclusion

The formative media engagements pulled me into a worthy scaffolding of my data collection and research methodology parts. The performance of each activity contributed to my comprehension of what the DBA Capstone Template and Rubric Guide consider as the expectations and the best practices of carrying out rigorous, ethical, well-researched and well-organized research. Along with explaining the process involved, these activities explained the reasoning behind doing them (which, in its turn, influenced my way of thinking and perception of these sections).

In Media Activity 1, I was questioned to rank a set of research preparation steps. Though this process, which appears to be a simple task, made me break down the logical path of a research study such as recruitment of participants and background setting; to the credibility of instruments, data collection, and reporting. The sequencing assignment allowed me to get a much better idea of how a single component of the research process is related to each other.

When composing the feedback, it has made me more succinct and practical in my parts in my methodology to ensure that no step was left unaccounted or misplaced. The exercise proved the significance of being open about research design, including recording the participation selection criteria, describing settings and materials, and demonstrating the trustworthiness of the instruments employed.

The Media Activity 2 also required me to start by ranking the steps in the order that I would take. The exercise challenged me to learn the order in a more subtle way and, thus, approach the logic and rationale of every operational step with more involvement. The exercise resulted in my becoming more confident in my skills to evaluate my writing in terms of logical flow and compliance with the best practices. The exercise also made me more conscious of the way my readers and reviewers would see the clarity and coherence with which I would describe my work. Hence, I was particularly keen in the sequence of steps in my final submission in order to make each transition as smooth as possible and supported with a rational cause of transition.

In the case of Media Activity 3, I have read a research poster and completed a mini-quiz regarding the research poster. The performance of this activity assisted me in developing my visual literacy, as well as the capacity to extract important information on visual displays of research. More to the point, what this activity has demonstrated to me was how well-organized and visually well-understood presentation can convey the complex information in an efficient manner. This exercise influenced my writing, the way I structured my parts, and motivated me to be direct, succinct and simple.

The exercise also made me remember to consider the perspective of the reader and how they could know my methodology and results in an efficient and clear manner. The media activities, in general, assisted me in creating a strong ground work that was quite useful in improving the structure, clarity, and depth of my written work. The media actions encouraged a more disciplined and more thoughtful manner of putting research processes together and writing up. I assimilated the learning in every assignment that enabled me to come up with a work of a methodologically rigorous task, logical, and within the limits required of the DBA Capstone project.
