    Title: Enhancing Employee Retention in Healthcare: Managerial Approaches

     

    The capstone project by Sharon was a critical discussion of the management strategies that can enhance employee engagement and minimize turnover in the healthcare sector. Here the connection to the session of SOBTH Networking and Support is available. The presentation discussed the adverse impacts of a high turnover rate on the performance, cost and care delivery of the organizer with poor management strategies being a major problem.

    The key idea was determining a gap in management practices so as to educate intermediate managers about the relevant skills or techniques to handle the needs of the employees (Saniuk et al., 2021). Due to the gap, organizations had low attendance and productivity and increased rates of burnout and attrition of workers. The study employed the thematic analysis to derive practical information after interviewing healthcare administrators, as four main themes emerged, namely, clarity and collaboration in goal alignment, career development opportunities, fair pay, positive work environments with feedback systems, and recognition and reward schemes.

    The findings of the poster sessions could be converted by healthcare management practitioners into action plans. To begin with, the professional development must be designed as systematic staff promotion plans, which clearly describe the career paths and provide remuneration that is competitive in the market (Kong et al., 2024). The organizations would be able to promote loyalty and enhance satisfaction among the employees due to the healthcare investment. Second, to reduce burnout, the employees may be provided with work flexibility, such as allowing employees to work at home or offering flexible working hours, which would allow the employees to have a healthy work-life balance (Kong et al., 2024).

    Moreover, recognition programs ought to be rationalized in terms of goals within an organization, e.g., career ladder with certain incentives and recognition of other cultures in the workplace. Last but not least, emotional Intelligence is another area that can be of healthcare managers, who can more effectively relate to their teams and resolve the complex interpersonal relationships (Shrivastava et al., 2022). The sustainability of the strategies including remote work policy and more critically on the organization culture and productivity should be investigated in the future research. With the evidence-based efforts to seal the gaps in the managerial practices by providing evidence-based strategies, healthcare organizations can improve employee retention contributing to the better patient care, cost-saving, and stability of the entire organization.
